Review of Sweet Leaf Tea

Some time ago, I was sent a massive box of Sweet Leaf Tea straight from the company to review. Unfortunately, all sorts of things got in the way and I never got the chance to properly review them. Even though it's nearly months later, I definitely wanted to get the word out on these delicious beverages.

PhotobucketSweet Leaf Tea has a number of organic varieties including the traditional green, raspberry, peach and half & half teas. I was above to try all of the above and I must say I enjoyed all of them thoroughly. Each beverage was sweet without being overwhelming and offered a hearty flavor. Sweet Leaf also have a line of lemonades which greatly quenched my thirst over the summer months.

Available throughout the country, Sweet Leaf will definitely become a new favorite for tea drinkers and organic lovers alike.

Recommended flavor: Peach! I never realized how much I would like it before I gave it try.

Review of Wildwood Foods Organic Probiotic Soymilk

It has been months since I wrote my last review, and organic news has been pretty slow in the past few days so review for today!

One of my new favorite products is Wildwood Foods' organic probiotic soymilk. I posted the press release here back in March. Flavors include pomegranate, blueberry and vanilla. I've tried all three flavors and I think I'm addicted to it, even though I'm not usually much of a soymilk drinker. They are sweet and tangy without being overpowering. There is a little bit of that cardboardy soy flavor I'm not very fond of, but it's not enough to stop me from enjoying it. Each drink is 10 ounces and free of dairy, cholesterol and saturated fat not to mention organic and low fat. I'd say to give it a try if you're looking for something nutritious and sweet tooth satisfying.

Best Christmas Gift: Chocolate Covered Late July Cookies!

I know during the holiday season how difficult it is to find the perfect gifts for friends and family. I can't imagine how many hours people spend every year thinking "Will (insert name) like this? Or this? Or this?" Fortunately I have found a solution for this year's shopping woes: Hand Dipped cookies from Late July.

I posted this news release about the cookies not too long ago, and before I knew it, the kind folks from Late July shipped me a box to review.

The verdict? They are exquisite! Not only are they beautiful to look at, but they are also incredibly delicious and high in quality. Taking a bite, you can taste all of the work that went into them. The flavors of chocolate work perfectly with each cookie. (I also loved the sprinkles of peppermint bark!) Although it's hard to pick a favorite, the vanilla bean cookie covered in milk chocolate definitely stuck out the most to me.
To top that off, the cookies are wrapped in a charming little eco-friendly brown box, ready for someone to enjoy.

I can't imagine a gift better than this. No matter who you give them to, friends, family or co-workers, I have no doubt everyone will love them. Buy some for yourself or your loved ones and rest assure the holidays will truly be happy (and delicious!) this year.

Review of Organic Energy Drink Syzmo

"Try Szymo on for size

You could go it alone, i.e., do your holiday shopping with mere food as sustenance. But if you dislike shopping as much as I do, you may need a little help to get you through that marathon mall-sweep. I know I do. My plan this year is to put a little Syzmo in my step.

Since I don't usually guzzle energy out of a can, I'm not sure Syzmo will deliver. But the makers of the energy drink claim the carbonated contents of each can will provide the drinker with "sustained energy," thanks to loads of vitamins and lots of energy, courtesy of organic coffee, guarana, green tea and yerba mate.

I figure it's worth a shot — and the drink tastes a lot better than any other energy drink I've tried."

Review: Amy's Roasted Vegetable Pocket

I have had a strong aversion to vegetables pretty much my entire life. Sure, I could eat things like potatoes, salads or tomatoes (okay, okay they are botanically a fruit, but they are LEGALLY a vegetable) but other vegetables weren't very appealing to me.

So it came as quite a surprise when I absolutely loved Amy's Kitchen's roasted vegetable pocket. What is this magical product? Why do I even prefer it to cookies? Well..

Amy's says:
"Inspired by Amy's Roasted Vegetable Pizza. The same great tasting combination of organic shiitake mushrooms, roasted red peppers, sweet onions and marinated artichoke hearts."

Shiitake mushrooms? Red peppers? Artichoke hearts? Since when have I ever ventured to eat these things? Since now, I guess. This little pocket is totally satisfying in every way: the flavor and texture are just right, and it leaves you perfectly satiated. Definitely my new favorite thing to eat, especially after writing myself crazy with the amount of school work I have. (I am stocked with roasted vegetable pockets now.)

I'm really happy about it being vegan too because I've been thinking about taking the "plunge." (It's hard to forget how much I like cheese pizza though..)

In short, if you haven't already tried the roasted vegetable pocket or pizza, you are missing out. Seriously. Even if you think you won't like it, just try it. I never imagined I would enjoy it this much.

Review: Dr. Kracker Klassic 3 Seed

I guess my favorite snack in the world is crackers. Forget cookies, cake or candy.. I just love crackers.

Last week, I spoke about the wonders of Late July crackers. This week I thought I would give a shout-out to my other favorite brand of crackers, Dr. Kracker.

I tried their Klassic 3 Seed crackers several months ago and have been hooked ever since. The flavor is so distinctly delicious, and they have this amazing crunch. They are pretty nutritious too, being organic whole grain crackers and all. The seeds also boost the nutritional value (one serving contains about 6 grams of protein!)

I haven't tried the other flavors which are Pumpkin Seed Cheese, Seeded Spelt, Sunflower Cheese, Muesli, Graham, Seedlander and Veggie Spelt, but I can imagine they are graintacular! (I know, I'm going to hell for saying that. Publicly.)

If you happen to see them, give them a try. Tell me what you think. I have a feeling you won't be disappointed.

Review: Late July Cookies

I finally got my hands on the new Late July cookies, and the verdict is.. they are are delicious! Sometimes it can be difficult to find satisfying and tasty organic whole grain treats, but these cookies are that and more.

Any dark chocolate lover would be pleased with the rich dark chocolate. The cookie has a nice crunch and the dark chocolate inside is smooth and pleasant. I usually don't enjoy dark chocolate all that much, but the flavor in these cookies is irresistible. Definitely not at all bitter or unpleasant like some dark chocolate desserts.

The vanilla bean with green tea has just the right amount of vanilla flavor. It's sweeter than the dark chocolate, but it's also not too sweet. The flavor of the cookie adds a great contrast to the sweet vanilla bean inside.
(I think a lot of people might look at the flavor and say "Huh? Green tea?" and might assume the cookie has a strong green tea flavor, but I didn't notice it at all. If you look at the ingredients, you will notice organic green tea extract is the very last on the list.)

The flavors are amazingly good, and I can definitely see myself buying them in the future. One thing that makes them stand out from other cookies is they aren't so sweet than you can't taste the other ingredients. Both cookies have a really balanced flavor which I think makes them way more enjoyable than other brands.

Go out and buy a box (or two or three or four..) already!

(To find out more about the cookies, click here or visit the Late July website.)

A New Morning Favorite

Sometimes, a poptart is the only thing that will hit the spot in the morning. Unfortunately, those commercial poptarts contain tons of crazy ingredients which probably include hydrogenated oil.

Enter Nature's Path Organic Toaster Pastries. Recently, several new kinds were introduced to the line. Flavors include Cherry Pomegran, Chocolate, Brown Sugar Maple Cinn and unfrosted Brown Sugar Maple Cinn, bringing the line to a total of twelve different flavors. Read more about these delicious treats.

I have seen all of the new flavors at Whole Foods so you should be able to get your hands on a box. Two boxes of the chocolate kind have made their way through my house already without me even getting an opportunity to try one. However, I don't know if this is because they are really delicious or because someone in my house thought that no one was eating them and decided to finish them off so they didn't "go to waste."

Nature's Path has also added some information on their website about their Pie-Oh-My! line. Pie-Oh-My! are basically just little microwaveable pies that contain two servings of whole grains and two-thirds of a serving of fruit. They are all natural and partially organic. Flavors include apple, cherry, wild berry and pineapple. Definitely a good choice for people watching their weight who want a nice portion controlled slice of pie.
