"Senior executives from the Organic Exchange met with journalists in London at a recent briefing organised by the Shell Foundation to highlight ‘market trends, leading players and the environmental and social benefits of organic cotton.’
Rebecca Calahan Klein and LaRhea Pepper of the Organic Exchange were joined by the head of Shell Foundation’s cotton programme, Alison Warters, who discussed what is driving growth in the organic cotton product sector and which brands and retailers are already deeply involved.
Figures provided by Organic Exchange and reported on earlier by Ecotextile News showed that the five brands using the most organic cotton globally by 2005 were (in order, by quantity) – Nike, Coop Switzerland, Patagonia, Germany’s Otto, and Sam’s Club/Wal-mart. In addition, Organic Exchange identified more than 30 companies with growing organic cotton programmes in 2005."
