Big Increase in Organic Farming in North Ireland

"The organic sector can be proud of the progress that it has made since 2000 according to UUP Agricultural spokesperson Tom Elliott.

Approximately 1.2% or 11,937 hectares of land is currently certified as farmed organically, a three fold increase in ten years.
Ulster Unionist Agricultural spokesperson, Tom Elliott MLA received the information in an answer to questions put to the North's Minister of Agriculture, Michelle Gildernew.

The Fermanagh Assembly member described the figures as encouraging."
