"Sun Harvest, a chain of folksy, organic grocery stores that was started in San Antonio in 1979, is facing an uncertain future as part of the fallout from a proposed half-billion-dollar buyout by Whole Foods Market Inc.
Customers, who see Sun Harvest as the anti-Whole Foods, are not happy, saying they fear the stores will undergo wholesale changes that could lead to higher prices if parent company Wild Oats Markets Inc. is sold for $565 million. Austin has two Sun Harvest stores.
The Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit opposing the buyout, saying it is an attempt to stifle competition."
